The Aquatic Centre is open!  Enhanced safety and cleaning protocols including reduced maximum capacities and buffers between swim periods in alignment with new policies and procedures are in place.

Swim sessions will follow a similar registration process to the gym and recreation programs. All swim sessions such as lap lanes, leisure swim, family, and all welcome swims will be registered, and patrons may register up to one week in advance online, in person, or by phone. Valid memberships are recognized when you book online and the discount is applied at checkout.  Book now!

 

Kids Swim Lessons – Summer Registration opens June 8th

Lessons for the littlest start at just 4 months of age! The first three levels of the Red Cross Swim Preschool program are for children under the age of 3 years old with their parents/caregivers; ages 3-6 years can join small class sized lessons with an instructor where toddlers master skills before moving through the 5 additional levels.  When kids are 6 years old, they can progress through the 10 level Red Cross Swim Kids program.

COVID-19 pandemic update: All levels of group swim lessons have resumed with your assistance.  All pre-school classes and Red Cross levels 1-3 are now parent assisted lessons. A responsible grown-up aged 15 years or older must be in the water and assist the child as directed by the instructor.  This is the nation wide recommended standard of delivering Red Cross swimming lessons to help keep your family and our instructors safe.

Daily Water Fitness Classes

Daily classes are 45 minutes in length and the instructors will vary.  Shallow water Aqua-fit classes are designed for those people who may not necessarily be swimmers but are looking to use water as resistance to improve muscle tone, strength and mobility.  If you prefer to join as a deep water participant, please register accordingly; capacity is 12 participants in the shallow end with 8 more in the deep end during the day; evening class limited to 8 shallow end and 4 deep end participants.

Buoyancy belts are provided by the complex for participants in our Deep-fit classes or deep-end participants, where physical strength and cardiovascular fitness can be increased while reducing joint stress.  These classes are conducted in the deep end with a capacity of 10 participants.

 

Water Fitness Programs

Specialized water fitness programs, such as Aqua Yoga, develop core stability and strength in a water setting.  Designated instructors will lead you through a variety of exercises over a specified number of weeks to help you develop good posture, good habits and proper movement within the water environment.  These classes are limited in space so register early to reserve your spot.

Public Swimming

All swimming sessions are now pre-registered, up to 1 week in advance.  Registration opens for the following week each Wednesday morning at 10am. Scroll to top, click the Register  button and search by pool use: lap, leisure, family, all welcome. Narrow your search by selecting a day of the week, or sort results by first meeting date.  Online booking will recognize basic valid memberships and discount the regular drop-in rate accordingly.  For other special rates, you must call to book your visit.

Once your session is booked, arrive swim ready (suit on under clothes) and limit the number of personal items brought to the facility. Enter the pool area from lobby view doors, check in with staff & remove shoes. Store personal items on deck as lockers will be extremely limited. A cleansing shower is mandatory prior to swimming. At the end of your swim, use changerooms briefly and exit through hallway to reception & front entrance.

Lap Lane: double-wide lanes are available, up to 4 persons in each, swimming in a large circle (stay to the right).  Time limit is 1 hour including hot tub visit or relaxing in the leisure pool.  Express lanes are 45 minutes.

Exercise Lane: intended for your own exercise program such as water jogging or gentle rehab, choose a deep-end or shallow-end space at time of registration. Time limit is 1 hour including hot tub visit or relaxing in the leisure pool.

Leisure Swim: small pools relaxation or play, no access to main pool unless lane users are finished or un-booked.  Capacity and time limit will vary.

Family Swim: limited to 6 full families (2 adults & up to 4 dependents). Lap lane by request, if space permits. Time limit is 90 minutes

All Welcome Swim: No lanes available. Time limit is 90 minutes.

Aqua Fit: 45 minute class with 15 minutes of leisure time.

Hot tub is limited to 7 individuals at one time with a max stay of 10 minutes and is open to all users with a swim booking.

Aquatic Leadership & First Aid Training

Learn lifesaving skills that will last a lifetime through the Bronze Medal Program.  Whether for personal interest or to become a lifeguard, the Bronze Medal awards provide important water safety messages and develop proficiency in lifesaving, resuscitation and water rescue.  Thinking about working in aquatics?  All the courses you need to become a certified National Lifeguard and Red Cross swimming instructor are offered here seasonally, as advertised.
