Arena & Sports Programs

Powell River Parks, Recreation & Culture department provides year-round sports opportunities within the community ranging from ice skating, hockey development, pickleball, summer sports camps, and organized adult recreational slo-pitch and hockey leagues.

Kids Registered Programs

The Powell River Recreation Complex offers year round registered kids sports programs. These include learn to skate (March – April) , 3 on 3 youth hockey, summer  & soccer camps,  baseball, learn to play hockey, and more. Click here to view our Spring & Summer program offerings.

Factory Hockey Player Development

Throughout the year, we offer a variety of hockey development programs for children that are looking to develop their skills throughout the season and off season. We’ve partnered with Factory Hockey where their instructor expertise and knowledge will help give your child the edge. Click here to view our current program offerings.

Adult Recreational Hockey League

The Powell River Recreation Complex is home to the non-contact Powell River Adult Rec Hockey League. From September – March teams play up to 2 times per week and compete for the Championship. Round up some friends today and join in on the action. We’re always looking for more teams each season. We provide the scorekeepers and referees. You provide the action. Adult Recreational Slo-Pitch League

From May – August, the Powell River Co-Ed Adult Recreational Slo-Pitch league is in full swing throughout the community in a well organized and fun environment. All abilities and skill sets are welcome. Teams play 25 games per year and we’re always welcoming new teams. There are also a number of different tournaments throughout the season. If you can dodge a wrench – or even if you can’t – you can play Powell River Dodgeball!  This new fun and social league will bring you back to your childhood days of playing doctor dodgeball in the elementary school gym, except this time, without a teacher! Teams of 6 will face-off against each other once a week in a battle for dodgeball supremacy!  Bring some fuel, because you’re guaranteed to be dodging, ducking, dipping, diving, and dodging yourself into shape while having a blast!  Register as a team or individual to be put on a team.

The Powell River Dodgeball League will kickstart on every Thursday night from 8:00 – 10:00pm at the Oceanview gymnasium. Starting January 9th and then running for 10 weeks, team’s will have the chance to pit their skills against one another for some fun!

League fee’s will cover:

  • 10 weeks of play
  • 90 – 120 minute session (dependent on the # of teams)
  • Games played will be determined by the number of teams present, and available time.

Teams are co-ed and can range from 6-12 in total numbers on a roster; 2 females must be playing on the court at all times

Court Sports

Table tennis and Pickleball are some of the opportunities we offer throughout the community. These programs are available on a drop in basis and continue to grow in popularity. Pickleball and Basketball are offered out of the Oceanview Education Centre while table tennis occurs at the Powell River Recreation Complex. Click here for more information on these programs.

Public Skating

From September – March, the Powell River Recreation Complex offers many drop in ice skating programs throughout the week for all ages and interests. Drop in programs include: Shinny Hockey, Everyone Welcome Skate, Parent & Child Hockey, Adult/Seniors Skate, Ice Play and Family Skates. Also be on the look out for seasonal special events!

If you don’t have equipment, don’t worry, we have a wide selection of rental skates and helmets available in our Skate Shop during our public skating sessions.
